Retirement Villages List
The Commercial and Consumer Tribunal has jurisdiction to deal with retirement village disputes between residents and scheme operators by way of the following three-step dispute resolution process:
- Parties must first attempt to settle the dispute within the village by following the procedures in the Retirement Villages Act 1999.
- When the parties have attempted to settle the dispute within the village they can apply to the registry for a dispute notice to have the matter referred to mediation.
- If the mediation is not successful an application can then be made to the Tribunal for a hearing.
